This client described what he wanted for a lake home over dinner. After Hill heard the client’s wishes, he hand sketched an exterior and roofline. Hill immediately had a storyline to go along with the concept. This home is a new build on the highly coveted Pelican Lake in Minnesota. Although it was a new build, Hill wanted it to feel as if it were stumbled upon in Europe. An old stone European Chateau in ruins. The walls were even made 4 times thicker than normal, to make the windows appear as if they were retrofitted. The client loves modern, so Hill wanted 1/3 of it to appear as if it were an addition with a flat roof. He also wanted to ensure the home had the same design language throughout, so even the roadside entrance was given a consistent look to the front (lakeside).
